Preparation
Prior to initial treatment:
Hardwoods with a high natural wood extractives content needs to weather off (for at least 4 weeks). Alternatively clean with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (degreaser).
Resinous wood (Larch or Douglas Fir etc.) needs to weather off for at least 6 weeks.
Pressure-impregnated wood (Massaranduba, Bangkirai or Garapa need to weather off for at least 3 months.
Use Osmo Wood Reviver Power Gel to clean the wood surface. This will remove grey wood cells before renovating the area.
Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 20%)
Osmo Decking Oil is ready to use - please do not thin.
Stir well.
Thoroughly clean or lightly sand old microporous stains. Ensure old varnishes are completely removed.
Always wear a dust mask when sanding.
Pre-treat surface with one coat of Osmo WR Base Coat 4001 for additional protection against blue stain, rot and insect attack.
Please carry out a trial application. The finished surface is influenced by many factors, including the wood's natural characteristics.
Application
We recommend using Osmo Decking Brush. Tailor-made for decking - allowing you to apply the finish whilst standing.
Decking Oil can also be applied using a stiff brush (Osmo Soft Tip Brush) or a lint free cloth.
Apply thinly and evenly.
Allow for good ventilation while drying.
Then apply the second coat - also thinly.
Allow to dry for approx. 12 hours with good ventilation.
Then apply the second coat.
Aftercare
For especially mechanically loaded areas (such as decking) we recommend checking the finish at least once a year. Recoat the surface with the suitable finish.
