Bona SuperSport Primer is a water-based polyurethane primer, ideal for indoors wooden sports halls and multi-purpose halls. It is a high-build primer which is excellent for producing a rich well-bodied surface once a top coat is applied, such as the Bona SuperSport ONE or Bona SuperSport HD.

Preparation

Areas to be coated must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, waxes, oils and any other surface contaminants prior to coating with Bona SuperSport Primer.

• For the best results, surfaces to be treated must be sanded back to bare wood
• Final sanding should be done with a fine sanding disk, screen or good quality sandpaper with a grit of 120 (view our range of abrasives)
• Remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner prior to priming
• For filling long, linear gaps use Bona Gap Master
• For filing holes, splits, dents and other surface imperfections, use Bona Mix and Fill

Application

Please do a test area before starting any project to check suitability and that you are happy with the product. Ensure you are following the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Allow the primer to reach room temperature. Optimal application conditions are between 18-25°C with 40-60% relative air humidity. High temperatures and low humidity can shorten drying time, whilst low temperatures and high humidity can lengthen the drying time. It is important to ensure good ventilation during application and drying. The minimum temperature for application is 13°C.

1. Shake the container thoroughly before use and insert the supplied filter
2. Apply an even coat of primer using a Bona applicator (either the Bona Lacquer Roller or Bona Applicator Sleeve) to ensure a uniform level of timber saturation and avoid timber colour variation
3. It is important to maintain a "wet edge" to prevent overlaps
4. It is not recommended to apply more than two full coats per day due to an increased risk of wood swelling
5. Dry in accordance with "Treatment Schedule" depicted in the product's technical information sheet
6. If Bona SuperSport Primer has been allowed more than 24 hours drying time, then an intermediate sanding is always required before applying further coats of varnish
7. Remove sanding dust and apply a top coat of Bona SuperSport ONE or Bona SuperSport HD.
