Preparation
Before application of Symphony Narrowboat Brush Primer we recommend the surfaces are suitably sanded to the correct dry film weight. For machine sanding, we recommend you use SIA 1948 fibotec discs 180 - 320 Grit. For manual sanding, use 6120 sia fleece handpads 180 - 320 Grit.
The surface must be cleaned using a Tack Cloth to remove all traces of contaminants.
Ensure surfaces are dry and smooth to the touch before painting.
Application
Do not flat or abrade of either coat of primer.
The first coat of Symphony Narrowboat Paint Primer should be applied to a DFT of 30 microns (+/- 5 microns). A second coat of Symphony Narrowboat Paint Primer should be applied as above. A DFT of 60 microns (+/- 5 microns) minimum is required after second coat of primer.
If the primer is left exposed for more than five days, it must be lightly flatted/abraded to provide a mechanical key for subsequent coats. Allow to dry for a minimum of 16 hours @ 10°C.
Please consult the post on Boat Painting Recommendations for using these products correctly and achieving the correct dry film weights.
