Sikkens Cetol® WV 880ᴮᴰᴾ is a clear impregnating anti-fungal biocidal protection for exterior joinery above ground level. Exterior wood as a material has to be protected against the continuous effect of water and the elements so problems don’t arise. The wooden structure is primarily responsible for this, but should moisture ever penetrate through the paint, our range of impregnation coatings and impregnating primers offer dependable protection and help to prevent bluing, mould, rot and discolouration. 

Sikkens Cetol® WV 880ᴮᴰᴾ is a clear water-based acrylic impregnation coating for help in blocking and preventing blue stain and rot on exterior joinery above ground level such as Window Frames, Doors and Cladding.

The impregnation coating offers reliable protection against the continuous damaging effects of moisture and improves the natural durability of all softwoods and leaf woods.

It can be dipped, flow coated or brushed onto a variety of stable wooden components like Windows, Outer Doors, Conservatories, semi-stable wooden components like Rafters, Gates, Shutters, Garden Houses and non-stable wooden components like Trellis Fencing, Pergolas, Carports, Sheds and is perfect particularly in tongue-and-groove areas.

Preparation

The wood moisture content for the application of Sikkens coating systems should be between 12% and 15%.

The selected wood, the design and the applied layer thicknesses must comply with current technical standards.All horizontal surfaces shall be bevelled by 15 ° and all edges shall be rounded with a radius of at least 2mm. Joints and open end grains must be sealed to prevent the ingress of water into the structure. The substrates must be dry, free from dust and grease.

The selection and application of the coating, especially the colour shade, is important, too. Please speak to one of our technical helpline representatives for advice.


Application

All waterborne and solvent borne paint systems can be used on the well dried impregnation.

If a separate rot impregnation system is not required, separate impregnation is not necessary.

We do not recommend using the product in whitish, translucent colour systems such as "opal white" because it could cause yellow discolouration.

We recommend using the Sikkens Cetol® WV 880ᴮᴰᴾ in part of the manufacturers recommended system.

All external materials coming into contact with the coating system (e.g. putty, adhesive tapes, sealants, cleaners, etc.) must be tested for compatibility by the user.

Intermediate sanding may only be done after the subsequent coating.
