Sikkens Cetol WP 567 is a dipping biocidal translucent base stain

Sikkens Cetol WP 567 is a deep penetrating waterbourne, pigmented translucent dipping, flow-coating, brushing machine and vacuum coater impregnating primer for exterior wooden components. It contains protection against blue stain. Primers are the connection between wooden surfaces and coatings. Their composition influences way the final coats perform, so it's vitally important to choose the correct primer for the job you are doing.

Sikkens Cetol WP 567 is a dipping translucent waterbourne acrylic/alkyd primer with blue stain fungi protection for exterior joinery constructions.

This base coat for exterior wooden components can be tinted to any colour from the Joinery Color Classics collection with lightfast, weather resistant translucent pigments. It has deep penetration, good run-off and colouring properties.

It can be deluged using Dipping, Flow Coating, Brushing Machine or Vaccum Coater onto a variety of stable wooden components like Windows, Outer Doors, Conservatories and semi-stable wooden components like Rafters, Gates, Shutters and Posts.

Preparation

The wood moisture content for the application of Sikkens coating systems should be between 12 % and 15 %.

The selected wood, the design and theapplied layer thicknesses must comply with current technical standards.

All horizontal surfaces shall be bevelled by 15 ° and all edges shall be rounded with a radius of at least 2 mm.

Joints and open end grains must be sealed to prevent the ingress of water into the structure.

The substrates must be dry, free from dust and grease.Where appropriate, the wooden articles to be treated must be fully secured (e.g. via tension belts or clamping devices) prior to treatment and during the dipping process, and must not be manually handled until after the treated articles are surface dry. Translucent, colour tints e.g. from the Joinery Color Classics collection.

All translucent colours can be mixed with each other. The optical impression of the individual translucent colours on different substrates and with different layer thicknesses is different, therefore sample coatings have to be applied to the wood to be treated. Medium to highly pigmented translucent colours are more weather-resistant than low pigmented colours.

Colourless coatings are not suitable for outdoor use. On timber rich in extractives, e.g., oak, larch or tropical wood, discolouration may occur – partially only as a result of weathering

Application

Automated dipping, flow-coating Brushing machine, vacuum coater Processing viscosity is approx.

11 seconds in a DIN cup 4 mm or approx. 23 25 seconds in a ISO cup 3 mm at 20 °C material temperature EU-Regulation No. 528/2012: This product must only be used in fully automated dipping processes where all steps in the treatment and drying process are mechanised and no manual handling takes place, including when the treated articles are transported through the dip tank to the draining/drying and storage (if not already surface dry before moving to storage).

Where appropriate, the wooden articles to be treated must be fully secured (e.g. via tension belts or clamping devices) prior to treatment and during the dipping process, and must not be manually handled until after the treated articles are surface dry.

Aftercare

The drying process of the coating depends on the applied film thickness and may be delayed when using timber with a high extractive contents or drying in damp/cold conditions.

During the drying process, always ensure for adequate temperature and ventilation. If the drying conditions are not met, damages within the coating cannot be excluded.
