Rio Verde Chalk Paint (Vintage Prestige) is a durable pure acrylic chalk paint for interior and exterior furniture that dries to a velvety flat matt finish.

Adorn, protect and bring vintage-inspired style to furniture with Rio Verde's Chalk Paint. Simply apply the paint and lightly sand back to distress the surface. Use more than one colour for a truly authentic shabby chic look. It is the perfect paint for creating modern rustic and classic vintage interiors.

For further colouration and protection, over-coat with Rio Verde Clear Decorative Oil to add coloured protection or Rio Verde Clear Furniture Varnish for clear protection.

Preparation

On rough surfaces it may be necessary to dilute the paint by about 10% with fresh water.

Clean surface to remove contaminants prior to applying. Ensure surface is stable, firm and free of contaminates including dust, sand, loose old paint, dirt, grease etc.

Shake the tin prior to application.

On vintage wooden furniture sand with sand paper. On metal surfaces remove rust with sand paper and apply Rio Verde Anti-Rust.

Check the colour by conducting a test area.

No primer is required before using this product.

Shabby Chic, Distressed, Pickled and Ethnic finishes can be achieved. For a two tone effect:

Choose two colours from the colour range. Apply the base colour using a synthetic bristle brush or medium pile polyester roller, perfect for creating texture. 

Once the base colour is dry, use the brush to apply the second colour. Avoid painting on too thick - if it is applied too thick it will be harder to sand back later.

Once the paint/oil is dry to touch, but hasn’t hardened, start sanding. For manual sanding, use 6120 sia fleece handpads 180 - 320 Grit. Remove the top coat of paint to reveal the colour beneath. Select pad type depending on the furniture and how distressed you want the final finish.

Finally, optionally apply a coat of Rio Verde Clear Decorative Oil to add coloured protection or Rio Verde Clear Furniture Varnish for clear protection.

Aftercare

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth or sponge.

For regular cleaning, we recommend using a small amount of detergent in water and wiping with a damp cloth.
