Osmo Polyx Oil Tints
for a transparent, coloured wood finish
Osmo Polyx Oils are derived from natural plant oils and waxes to provide hardwearing and long-lasting protection for wooden flooring, casework and furniture. All the well-known properties of the Original Polyx Oil, tinted for your perfect design - water-repellent, dirt-resistant and durable. The surface is pleasant to touch, has an even finish and is based on natural ingredients.
Osmo Polyx Oil Tints are a transparent coloured, satin wood finish that uniquely combines the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one product. Resistant to dirt, water and abrasion whilst beautifully smoothening the surface. In comparison to conventional finishes, the use of plant ingredients creates a much more evenly coloured and harmonious appearance. The simple application — without the need for primer or intermediate sanding — saves you both time and money!
What uses/surfaces is the Osmo Polyx Oil Tints range most suitable for?
This product is suitable for protecting interior wood: wall and ceiling panelling, wooden flooring, furniture and toys. It is an ideal finish for protecting and decorating all wooden floors, such as solid wood and plank wood flooring, block strip, OSB and cork floors, as well as furniture. It is only recommended for light-coloured wood species. The microporous surface allows the wood to breathe and reduces swelling and shrinkage. Resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water according to DIN 68861-1C — no water spots. When dry, finish is safe for human, animals and plants and is suitable for children‘s toys as per EN 71.3 (European norm) and is saliva-resistant and sweat proof according to DIN 53160 (German industrial norm). Available in tins of 750ml and 2.5L!

Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints are ready to use, please do not
thin. Stir well before use. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed. As a general rule, wear a dust mask during sanding works. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood (Osmo Wood Filler).
If possible, please apply the first coat to all sides before installation. Sand wood surfaces carefully. Begin with coarse sandpaper like Klingspor PS 22 K Velcro Discs — final sanding work for flooring 120–150, for furniture P220–240. Before oiling the surface, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum. The finished surface is, among other things, influenced by the wood's natural characteristics. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.
Oils enhance the natural tone of wood (permanent wet effect). Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time.
For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc.), we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin.
A trial application is recommended.
For cork surfaces, due to their high absorbency please ensure that the wood finish is applied especially thinly. On cork, longer drying times are to be taken into consideration.
Caution: Apply max. one coat thinly to cabinet interiors and drawers with a cloth.
Apply thinly and evenly to the clean and dry wood along the wood grain with Osmo Natural Bristle Brush, Osmo Microfibre Roller or Osmo Floor Brush 150 mm, and spread well. Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours with good ventilation. If a stronger colour intensity is desired, repeat the process (however maximal 2 coats).
Lightly coloured stained effect
Within 20 minutes after application, wipe away product along the wood grain with a cloth or white pad. Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours with good ventilation.
For this we recommend Osmo Wood Wax Finish. Important: Treat flooring maximal one time with Polyx®-Oil Tints. After thoroughly drying, a top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil is to be carried out.
Wood surfaces treated with Polyx®-Oil Tints are easy to maintain. Remove coarse dirt with a broom or a vacuum cleaner. To clean, add Osmo Wash and Care concentrate to mop water and clean the surface with a damp (not wet!) mop.
Important: Treat flooring maximum one time with Polyx®-Oil Tints. Any brushstrokes can be removed with an unused dry Microfibre Roller within 30 minutes after applying. After thoroughly drying, carry out a top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil.
