Liberon Steel Wool is a high quality material, designed to create a crumble and dust resistant technology which allows you to operate without any problems during the process.
The Steel Wool is oil free and is a flexible abrasive which can be moulded in shapes to reach hard to get angles. It can be used in different ways, stripping down paint and other finishes as well as it can be used to apply wax polishes.
Steel Wool is available in 7 different grades, depending on the quality and the project. The grades span from 'Ultra Fine 0000' to a range of 'Fine' to 'Medium 00, 0, 1' and 'Medium' to 'Coarse 2, 3 and 4'.
The differentials are designed for what grade is suitable for your project you are aiming to achieve. There is 3 main categories which all 7 grades fall under.
Polishing and cleaning delicate surfaces require grade 0000. This grade is used to cut back between coats of varnishes, oil finishes and French Polishes. It can be used to clean and polish metals such as copper, bronze, chrome, stainless steel and aluminium. As well as being used on metals and finishes, its used between coats with varnish and paints.
If you use Grade 0000 with soapy water it can be used to clean and polish porcelain, marble and glass without damaging the surfaces.
Using Steel Wool for general light cleaning and surface preparation, then grade 00, 0 and 1 is best suited. If you were to use Liberon Wax & Polish Remover to remove built-up wax polish, smoke or general dirt on wood, then you can use any grade of 00, 0 and 1. Using any of the three grades you are able to clean, smooth and prepare wood and metal surfaces before re-polishing, varnishing, waxing or painting surfaces. You are also able to use grade 00, 0 and 1 with suitable solvents for light
to medium cleaning of all metals.
For more of a heavy cleaning approach for paint and varnish removal, grades 2, 3 and 4 are suitable for those tasks. You can use Liberon Fine Wood Stripper to remove softened varnishes, lacquers, paints and French Polishes for wood and metal surfaces. If needed grades 2, 3 and 4 can also be used to remove rust.
If you are ever in doubt when choosing a grade of Liberon Steel Wool, use a finer grade.
