Liberon Spirit Wood Dye is used for colouring dense hardwoods such as mahogany and oak. Ethanol based formula. Suitable for wax and oil finishes.
Liberon Spirit Wood Dye is ethanol based dye, meaning that it is suitable for use on new and reclaimed timbers and surfaces which may be coated with a finish like wax, varnish and oil. Spirit Wood Dye also can be used to tint French Polish. The Wood Dye is a quick drying formula compared to other leading brands.
The Spirit Wood Dye comes in a selection of 8 Colours Ebony, Georgian Mahogany, Light Oak, Medium Oak, Dark Oak, Antique Pine, Teak and Walnut. All the colours that are available may be mixed together to give you the choice between different shades of wood, depending on what you prefer. This option is very useful if you are in possession of new timbers that may need the colours to match a certain modification/repair.

Before applying the application on bare wood, ensure that there is no exposed gaps and holes in the wood. Filler the gaps using any available wood filler, it’s recommended you use Liberon Wood Filler with Liberon Spirit Wood Dye as the two products fuse well together. After this process, follow the standard procedure of sanding and cleaning of the wood.
Using Liberon Spirit Wood Dye on wood with previous treatment, have to be stripped down and removed to bare wood. You can remove wax and varnishes using standard removal solutions but its recommended using Liberon Wax and Polish Remover and Liberon Fine Wood Stripper. Any other standard old finishes can be simply removed by sanding the wood down and removing any excess dust that may be left behind.
Before starting the job, ensure you are equipped with right amount of Liberon Spirit Wood dye.
Test an area of wood with the dye first before starting out the job to ensure that the final finish is right for the wood. The colour bar may not be a true representation of the actual colour.
If one or more tin is required, mix the tins together in one large container to uniform and marry the colours together.
Always ensure that the surface you are going to treat and dye, is clean and dirt free from any possible contaminations.
Remove any existing finishes that may on the surfaces like grease, oil and wax etc.
Before applying the Wood Dye, sand the surfaces thoroughly and remove any dust that may have been left behind.
Do not mix spirit dyes with water-based dyes.
Be cautious when applying any French Polishes or Shellac based sealers and intense brush strokes may cause the Wood Dye lift from the surface.

Before application, shake well before use.
If your job in hand require the mixture of tins, make sure to uniform colour.
Using a brush or lint-free cloth apply one liberal coat of Spirit Wood Dye.
Work with the grain of the wood, wherever possible, allow the dye to penetrate.
Remove any excess dye that may be left with a clean cotton cloth.
For a stronger and dense colour, apply a second coat 4 hours after your first coat.
When touch dry, the Liberon Spirit Wood Dye can be finished with a water-based varnish, oil, wax or French Polish.
Be cautious of applying a second coat as this action may remove the first coat.
This product may be harmful to aquatic organisms; this may cause long-term effects in an aquatic environment.
Keep Liberon Spirit Wood Dye in distance from the reach of children.
Do not leave the product in any direction of ignition – No smoking near the product.
Do not leave the tin empty into nearby drains.
Always wear suitable protective clothing and gloves when in the process of using the application.
Ensure you use the application in well ventilated areas.
