OSMO POLYX OIL TINTS

A beautiful coloured Satin finish for your interior wooden surfaces. ideal for floors and furniture.

Osmo Polyx Oil Tints is a durable tinted hard-wax oil that gives a rustic feel to the surface. It will protect and colour the wood whilst keeping the grain visible. It is resistant to common liquid spillages such as water, juice, tea, cola and wine. The finish is microporous, meaning the surface can breathe and the finish will not crack or peel. This product is ideal for flooring, furniture and table/worktops.

Application Products Used:

Osmo Floor Roller Set

Osmo Telescopic Handle

150mm Decking Brush

Please Note: For wooden floors it is strongly recommended a top coat of a Clear Polyx Oil is applied over a Polyx Oil Tint. This is due to floors being a high traffic area and using the two in conjunction provides significantly better protection.

For other surfaces however, two coats of Polyx Oil Tints can be applied for a stronger depth of colour.

Preparation

Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints are ready to use, please do not
thin. Stir well before use. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed. As a general rule, wear a dust mask during sanding works. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood (Osmo Wood Filler).

If possible, please apply the first coat to all sides before installation. Sand wood surfaces carefully. Begin with coarse sandpaper like Klingspor PS 22 K Velcro Discs — final sanding work for flooring 120–150, for furniture P220–240. Before oiling the surface, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum. The finished surface is, among other things, influenced by the wood's natural characteristics. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.

Application

Oils enhance the natural tone of wood (permanent wet effect). Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time.

For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc.), we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin.

A trial application is recommended.

For cork surfaces, due to their high absorbency please ensure that the wood finish is applied especially thinly. On cork, longer drying times are to be taken into consideration.

Caution: Apply max. one coat thinly to cabinet interiors and drawers with a cloth.

Transparent coloured
Apply thinly and evenly to the clean and dry wood along the wood grain with Osmo Natural Bristle Brush, Osmo Microfibre Roller or Osmo Floor Brush 150 mm, and spread well. Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours with good ventilation. If a stronger colour intensity is desired, repeat the process (however maximal 2 coats).

Lightly coloured stained effect
Within 20 minutes after application, wipe away product along the wood grain with a cloth or white pad. Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours with good ventilation.

Intensively coloured
For this we recommend Osmo Wood Wax Finish. Important: Treat flooring maximal one time with Polyx®-Oil Tints. After thoroughly drying, a top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil is to be carried out.

Aftercare

Wood surfaces treated with Polyx®-Oil Tints are easy to maintain. Remove coarse dirt with a broom or a vacuum cleaner. To clean, add Osmo Wash and Care concentrate to mop water and clean the surface with a damp (not wet!) mop.

Important: Treat flooring maximum one time with Polyx®-Oil Tints. Any brushstrokes can be removed with an unused dry Microfibre Roller within 30 minutes after applying. After thoroughly drying, carry out a top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil.
